I am super excited to share with all of you, a recent interview I did with online travel publication Barclet Magazine. Read below to get to know me a little better and don’t forget to visit Barclet Magazine for more travel stories!
1. Tell us about your site and why travel is important to you.
I wanted to create an expressive platform for myself where I could combine my passion for
travel and style with my love for writing and photography. One of my favorite quotes is “Travel is the only thing you can buy, that makes you richer.” Since moving to Los Angeles from London, I have met so many people who have never left the US and I think its so important to explore the world and different types of cultures and people. I hope my blog inspires people to do exactly that.
2. What has been your favorite travel experience?
Most Recently, I would have to say Madrid, Spain. I made a last minuet decision to take a train there when I was in Barcelona and I had the time of my life. I stayed in the heart of the city, in an area called “Sol” and the atmosphere was incredible. The beauty, the food, the people and the incredible buzz until the early hours of the morning made me fall in love with this city and I can’t wait to go back. The best impulsive decision I ever made!
3. What are your top travel tips for traveller?
Do your research! Traveling can be quite daunting especially when visiting a country you have never been to or if it is your first time leaving your country. I recently got back from Greece and was a little anxious because of the financial crisis they are going through but made sure to do my research and ended up having a fantastic time. I am currently planning a trip to Asia, a continent I have never been to, so I am doing lots of studying.
4. What kind of travel do you focus on?
Many of the travel blogs out there, feature back-packers or study abroad students. My blog focuses more on traveling in style. I like to think of A Blonde Across The Pond as a guide for where to go, what to do and what to wear while doing it.
5. What advice do you have for travellers to make travel more affordable without losing comfort and service?
Traveling should be an enjoyable experience and in my opinion, it isn’t worth it if your are going to have to compromise feeling relaxed. Choosing WHEN to travel is huge. As long as you travel in off peak seasons, you can pretty much always find a great deal. October, November, March and April are good months to consider taking a trip. Avoid the holidays and summer months.
6. Three favorite travel destinations and why?
Paris – The fashion, Art and architecture
Madrid- The friendly people and buzzing atmosphere
New York – The food, the theatre and the iconic views
7. What’s the story behind your blog’s title.
It describes me in one phrase! An blonde English girl living across the pond in Los Angeles!
8. What are you personal favourite blogs and why ?
For travel I love following Tuulavintage and for fashion Julia Engel of Girl Meets Glam. Both have amazing photos and informational content.
9. Any advice for anyone who wants to start her/his own blog
Just go for it! Whats the worst that can happen?
10. What do you do when your not blogging ?
If I am not writing blog posts or creating content, you’ll find me working in the fashion industry, trying out a new LA hot spot for dinner, hanging out with my friends and family…or traveling!
