After we departed from the most incredible time on Mykonos, we headed to our next Island: Santorini. I was so sad to be leaving the party island but was excited to see what Santorini had in store for us.
We flew from one tiny airport to another. I swear that the Santorini airport could fit inside my 2 bedroom apartment. We flew via Olympic air which is an awesome and inexpensive airline to use when Island hopping.
Just as I thought that nothing could get more beautiful than Mykonos, I was so taken back as soon as we got into the cab that took us to our hotel. Santorini is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. We were dropped off at our hotel, “The Belvedere” which sat on a cliff overlooking the water with a view of the volcano. I highly recommend everything about this hotel; the staff were incredible and you absolutely can’t beat the location – bang in the middle of Firostefani with the most insane views and a couple of minuets of walking away from the main town. The Red Sand Beach is quite incredible. The name is self explanatory. The volcanic beach has red sand and deep crystal blue water. It is such a vision! You must go here when visiting Santorini, but be prepared for about a 10 minute hike to get down to the secluded beach.
Oia is located in the south of the island and is famous for their sunset. I stayed in a more central area – Firostefani but would hop on my ATV for about 20 minuets to wander around the quaint little shops and watch the beautiful sunset.
Wine Tasting is a fun activity to do while in Santorini. We went on the Santorini Wine Tour which can be private or semi private. Tasting all of the island’s best wines and learning about the process was such a treat and not to mention romantic!
